Smooth words may hide a wicked heart, just as a pretty glaze covers a clay pot.

Ouch that's quite a picture!
Doesn't take much to think of a person who says all the right things, has a charisma, is good with words, maybe even preaches a sermon or quotes the Bible, but what they say is not a true image of their heart, and their actions display who they really are.
And then I wonder how often I might have glazed over my heart with some smooth words rather than address what's really going on inside. 
At the same time I know that God is transforming that clay pot little by little so that I'll no longer need the glaze...

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,  for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see - such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
