What had Boaz done?
He had honoured Ruth, seen her as a person, treated her with respect, was concerned for her reputation, kept her safe, honoured his culture and God's law, and was generous towards her. 
Because that's what love does. 
I think that we're supposed to get a picture of God's love for us in Boaz. And get a picture of how we should see people and how we should treat them, especially where we have power. Boaz had all the power here, yet he chose to honour the person with less. 
Because that's what love does.
