He answered,
"Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need?..."
Then he said to them,
"The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath..."
Mark 2:25, 27-28 NIV
Jesus when responding to this challenge went back to God's word.
I think there's 2 reasons for this:
It's authoritative
And the people he was talking with were experts in it.
The Sabbath is made for man...Jesus tells them you know your Bible inside out but you've missed the heart.
God's "rules" are there for you.
For your good
For your thriving
For your flourishing
You've made it about control and power.
Flip it upside-down.
I'm interested in people...
No matter what part of the Bible we are reading we've got to look for God's heart behind it, in it.
A heart that is for our good
For our thriving
For our flourishing
