Matthew 2:16 ESV

Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men

This is not part of the nativity scene or the guys on camels bringing gifts...this is a family running for their lives in the middle of the night with a cruel ruler prepared to kill chasing them down...in the face of the greatest gift man's inhumanity is a stark contrast...to retain his power Herod brought terror to a village...how often has this been repeated where innocents suffer and die at the whim of others...is our world today in any less need of a saviour?

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,  for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can't see - such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.
