Psalms 119 - Resh.

Look at my suffering and deliver me 
because I havent forgotten your Instruction.
Argue my case and redeem me. 
Make me live again by your word.  
...
You have so much compassion, LORD - make me live again, according to your rules.  
...
Look at how much I love your precepts. 
Make me live again, LORD, according to your faithful love!  

Psalms 119:153-160 CEB
I love the way the CEB has phrased this..."make me live again".
Three times in this passage this phrase is repeated "make me live again".
Why does the psalmist need to say this?
Because he feels like his life is over. 
He feels dead. 
Maybe you've never felt like that but the writer of this song has, the opening line is "look at my suffering", and a cry to be redeemed, rescued, brought back.
Suffering can make us feel dead.
The psalmist looks for three things to help him come back to "life"
God's word
His rules for living
His Faithful Love
He knows that Truth will bring life.
He knows that living in line with God's design will bring Life.
And he knows that when he holds to Faithful Love, that he is in fact Beloved, that will bring him back to Life. 
Even in suffering, there can be Life. 
Even when we don't feel alive, 
our God is Faithful Love, & we are Beloved.

I always thank my God when I pray for you, Philemon, because I keep hearing about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God's people.  Philemon 1:4-5 NLT Philemon's testimony is given by others. His reputation is faith in Jesus and love for others. I wonder if we tend to see the externals (she's a great teacher, he's a wonderful worship leader) and miss character, heart, the whole person?  Whatever it is that Philemon does, others see faith in Jesus and love for others, and that's what Paul recognises as important. It's a heart thing. Our culture, our world wants us to focus on performance, rewards performance, yet, even as we look at the Olympics and marvel at human performance, it's the moments when we see people's hearts, what makes them tick, the emotions, hear what's important to them, that is what sticks and makes the games special. Do you wonder about the back story? Are these the same 4 people who bring this man food? Take him to the toilet every day. Clean him up. Does he live with one of them? Are they family? Are there whole families or groups of people in the background who have supported and cared for this man? A group of children who grew up seeing their parents love in action? Probably. Healing Help Hope These things are found in community. These 4 guys are the heroes here. The upfront people.
