Galatians 6:7-10 NLT
Don't be misled - you cannot mock the justice of God.
You will always harvest what you plant.
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature.
But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.
So let's not get tired of doing what is good.
At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.
Therefore,
whenever we have the opportunity,
we should do good to everyone - especially to those in the family of faith.
Galatians 6:7-10 NLT
It's easy to take parts of Paul's teaching here and weaponise it - eg "don't get tired of doing what is good" can lead to burn out, despair, never being "enough" or doing enough...but when we read this passage in the context of false teaching hitting the church that require all the rules being followed, Paul's words here are much more reflective, to always consider who God is, His character, to consider our own heart motivations and who we are really following, and to step into freedom that faith in Jesus brings...in that context do good even if the results are not immediate, do good because it's good not because there's a rule book or the "shoulds" compelling us, do good because you are Beloved.
