But Jesus replied,
"Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head."
Matthew 8:20 NLT
Jesus had been with people and had just had a religious leader commit to following him wherever he went, and then he says in some sense, that he is alone in the world.
That there's really no where for him to call home.
It's an echo of Adam being asked to name the animals and realising he was alone.
Jesus in his humanity realises everyone and everything has a home, except him.
It's so human to feel alone, to not feel at home in this world, so when we feel that way, we're in good company.
And isn't the hope of heaven that we will know shalom, where all our deepest needs will be met, where we will fully be home.
In the meantime, we walk with Jesus knowing it's OK to sometimes not feel completely at home.
