But the Israelites did not attack them, because the leaders of the assembly had sworn an oath to them by the Lord, the God of Israel. The whole assembly grumbled against the leaders, but all the leaders answered,
"We have given them our oath by the Lord , the God of Israel, and we cannot touch them now."

Josh's team was deceived (because they didn't ask God first) & made a deal, commitment, a covenant.
There was public dissent.
Pressure.
The people were unhappy, but the leadership not only stuck to their promise, but stuck together.
Not just a practical leadership lesson whether that's at home, at work, at church, but also a picture of how God stuck with his promises, his covenant, even though it hurt, even though it cost him.
Jesus stayed on the cross for me, when he could easily have walked away...

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.
