Proverbs!
To show partiality is not good - yet a person will do wrong for a piece of bread.
Proverbs 28:21 NIV
What's going on here?
Is the writer asking us to compare different "wrongs"?
Is the writer justifying some actions?
I wonder if the writer is asking us in a round about way to show partiality.
I wonder if we're being asked to question why I have the space to consider moral judgements about things & people, when someone else is hungry.
When they don't have enough to eat.
What would I do in their shoes?
It's impossible to know how we would respond if we were born into a different family, had the experiences someone else had, yet it's so easy to make judgements about other people's choices and actions.
And in this proverb at least, it's about lack of choice.
Maybe we do need to show partiality?
What do you think?
