Both day and night belong to you;
you made the starlight and the sun.
You set the boundaries of the earth,
and you made both summer and winter.
See how these enemies insult you, Lord.
A foolish nation has dishonored your name. Don't let these wild beasts destroy your turtledoves.
Don't forget your suffering people forever.
Psalms 74:16-19 NLT
Asaph starts this part of his poem, his song, with who God is.
He's reminding our God who needs no reminding.
But in that he seems to be reminding himself, that our God who seems to have forgotten him, forgotten his people, who seems to be leaving his people on the brink of despair, Asaph is reminding himself that there's a Bigger Story that we're part of.
And that no matter what, we keep faith in the One who made the starlight.
