Proverbs!

[6] The godly are showered with blessings; 
the words of the wicked conceal violent intentions. 
[7] We have happy memories of the godly, but the name of a wicked person rots away.
Proverbs 10:6-7 NLT
The "godly" (righteous, just) compared to those who are not...yet the first comparison seems a bit off, one getting blessings, the other concealing a heart intention different to their words.
And in the second it's the memories of someone compared to their "name".
This disjoint seems intentional, so while I'm tempted to apply these Proverbs to others, Proverbs invites us to look in...to my motivations behind my words, to consider where I might not be speaking with integrity.
To think about my "name", and am I trying to protect something about me that will just rot?
Where can I be investing in what will last?
Proverbs is a bit more nuanced than first glance- what are these Proverbs inviting you towards today?

Genesis 15.8-18.ESV But he said O Lord God , how am I to know that I shall possess it? ...When the sun had gone down and it was dark, behold, a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch passed between these pieces. On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram... March 15 was the last day we looked at Abram's story...he was questioning God and this is God's response...sacrifices and smoke and fire and a covenant...a promise... Isn't that what we crave for sometimes? God, if only you'd just show me smoke & fire, a burning bush a sign, miracle, healing...then all my questions would disappear...all my doubts would be gone... 2moro we'll see Abram's response but I think God values our faith in spite of our questions and doubts.
