This letter is from Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ.
I have been sent to proclaim faith to those God has chosen and to teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives.
This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God - who does not lie - promised them before the world began.
And now at just the right time he has revealed this message, which we announce to everyone. It is by the command of God our Savior that I have been entrusted with this work for him.
Titus 1:1-3 NLT
Boom!
What an opening from this letter!
What stands out for you?
What does your spirit need from Paul's introduction to us?
Perhaps it's his complete confidence in who he is. Given his life story, he is immovable in his faith in Jesus.
Perhaps it's his complete confidence in the Story, the Eternal God, committed to His people from before time, that no matter what our day-to-day life holds, we're held in this Bigger Story.
And because we're part of that, even the most mundane days, the most challenging days, the days full of goodness, and the days that contain discouragement and despair, freedom, fear, happiness, stagnation, or growth, all our days hold meaning and hope because our life, our story, is held securely in our God's Big Story.
May we find rest in that today.
