Friday! Proverbs!
A bribe is seen as a charm by the one who gives it; they think success will come at every turn.
Proverbs 17:8 NIV
Jesus was offered a bribe, a shortcut to rule the world. But He was the only sinless one, the only one who has been fully able to resist the lies that would take us down.
The only one who could fully stand up to the Liar.
But if we immerse ourselves in God's truth, in His word (like Jesus did) then the lies and the bribes start to unravel...and the Liar's success will diminish and one day be removed from our world altogether.
For now though, he thinks he's a winner.
But we know how the story will end!
For now, don't take the short cut way of offering a bribe. It will always end in ruin. God doesn't seem terribly concerned with our success in the world's terms, but His concern is with our character...

Joseph replied..."Dont you see, you planned evil against me but God used those same plans for my good, as you see all around you right now - life for many people..." Genesis 50:19-20 MSG The view from the drone. The different perspective. "God has been at work in my life despite, in fact within the hatred that you had towards me. Even though I couldn't always see it, I kept trusting Him, even when He was silent, when all hope seemed lost... God was at work... Can you see that now?" #faith #faithinthedark
