I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. Psalm 34:1 NIV This is a cool verse. Keep praising God. If you read 1 Samuel in the 20's chapters is the story of David literally on the run for his life. He faked being crazy at one point to get away. And at that time he wrote this song. I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. Psalm 34:1-3 David is saying if you are afflicted, if it seems that the world is against you, you can't win, hurt, under pressure, then I know what that's like. Join with me. A fellow traveler, a fellow sufferer. And we'll talk to God together, remind ourselves of who He is. That He is good. He is for us. Even in the most difficult of circumstances, when we don't get God, don't feel it, choose to believe, to trust. And praise Him anyway. Sing. ...
Sing joyfully to the Lord... We wait in hope for the Lord ; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May your unfailing love be with us, Lord , even as we put our hope in you. Psalm 33:1, 20-22 NIV This Psalm is not about a world where everything is good and every problem solved. The writer is realistic about the place he lives. But He start with singing. Singing with his whole heart. No distractions, for an audience of One. The One who loves us in our humanness, in our flaws. And it ends with Hope Hope in a God who is holy. Hope in a God who is just. Hope in a God who Loves. Hope that is now. Here And Hope that is coming. This is not all there is, this is not the end of the story, one day all that is broken will be unbroken, all that is hurt will be unhurt, and there'll be no more tears. In this Hope, that is personified in Jesus, we can sing Joyfully With all our hearts To the audience of One #sunday #worsh...
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1-2 NIV This Psalm starts with praise. It's written as a song, to be sung to the tune of "the death of the son" and its full of lament about enemies and opposition and difficulty...yet...he starts with these words of praise & worship... Giving thanks Telling others Singing When we're facing our enemies, trouble, difficulty...give thanks, tell others about God's goodness...and sing! No better place to be than in church today, singing to our God #sunday #worship #sing
How great are your works, O Lord ! Your thoughts are very deep! Psalms 92:5 ESV Ever been in a  conversation and our only  response is "wow that's deep!" I'm going to have to really think about that That challenges the way I see things That's beyond my current understanding... Not only are God's works great but His thinking is deep. Challenging When we think we know it all there's more...another level with God...reasons we've never thought of... I don't want a small God who is easily and completely understood...but a Big God, of mystery, of deep thinking, someone beyond. While I may not always "get" Him, understand or even agree, one thing I know - He loves. Loves us. #psalms #psalm92 #makesomemusic #sing #sunday #worship #thisisourGod
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. Psalms 92:4 ESV Sometimes we lose sight of God's goodness...we get buried in work, study, parenting...good things...but we lose the joy somehow. We stop singing. This song says to look up and out at the goodness of God's work. That could be the created world, the ecology, the animals, even the bugs make some people sing. It could be our humanity, the physical, the miracle of our minds...or the people...the wonder-full people in our lives... Maybe it's the way God has worked in your life or someone else's that makes you sing...or the fact that the Creator Of The Universe loves you...died for you... What makes you sing? #psalms #psalm92 #makesomemusic #sing
