The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1 NIV There's enough pressure on us, on our "house" from the outside - the storms of life that buffet, the hurts, disappointments, losses - without us adding in our own by comparing, by destroying ourselves. Not only do we have a God shaped space in our heart, but He has a You shaped space in His, that only You can fill. We can never live up to all the expectations of this world - but it all changes when we know we're loved by its creator. That's what the wise build their house on. The foundation is not my ability or strength or goodness or appearance or achievement or even someone elses love. All those things can let us down. Our foundation is that despite our weaknesses and failings we're God's dearly loved children. #dearlyloved #hope #home #proverbs #wisdom #somethingtochewon
Friday! Proverbs! The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1 NIV A house is a place of nurture, growth, development, hopefully a place of peace, a place we can return to... home. But this doesn't seem to be about a physical place...so maybe it's about our heart. A place of nurture, growth, development... peace. The foolish, we are own worst enemy...we allow the thinking of this world, the expectation of others to shape how we see ourselves, we don't have hope in anything bigger than us...and it destroys from the inside out. The start point for the wise is this: You are unconditionally and completely loved by God. Then our inner self can become that place of nurture...of peace... built on the hope of the gospel #dearlyloved #hope #home #proverbs #wisdom #somethingtochewon
Proverbs 10:27-28 NIV The fear of the Lord adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.   The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. In Proverbs things are often black and white. There are 2 teams The righteous. Those who have put their faith and trust in God, & the wicked - those who have chosen to be their own god. I have placed my faith in the redeeming love of Jesus. That is where these Proverbs are pointing...my hope, my eternal future...this is not a promise that bad things won't happen to those whose faith is in God, but that in the end, all will be made new...the prospect will become reality #whichteamareyouon #faith #hope #future #home
Psalm 119:19 AMP I am a stranger and a temporary resident on the earth; hide not Your commandments from me. At home...but not quite...There is more to this life than just the here and now; it's a bit like being in a new town, or a different country...interesting, exciting, scary...but not quite home...one day we'll go home... The second part of this verse...hide not; sometimes God's word is not clear - perhaps we should pray this more often - hide not Your truth, wisdom, direction... #onedayallwillbemadenew #home #hope #future #hidenot
John 14 v 1-2 Don't let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home... Jesus says come home with me, come back to my Dad's place. What you need is there. There is peace there. And there is plenty of room there.  A place for you.  ...and bring a friend!  There's always room for one more :) #hope #future #home
