Matthew 11:28-30 NLT part 3 Take my yoke upon you and let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls Jesus says Let Me Teach You. He wants to gently and humbly show us the way, give us direction, enlighten us with truth, but we need to choose to let him. He is humble at heart. The creator of the universe says hey let me come alongside you, but I'm not going to push it, or force you, or coerce you. Choose me, and I'll walk with you, labour with you, teach you, and...give you rest. May today we choose to let Jesus in, to share our burdens with Him, to let Him walk with us. And may we live in this way too, walking, labouring, and humbly encouraging those who God has bought into our lives. #inthistogether
Matthew 11:28-30 NLT part 2 Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls Yoke. a wooden crosspiece that is fastened over the necks of two animals and attached to the plough or cart that they are to pull. Jesus is asking us to join with him, to work with him, as we go about the ordinary day-to-day stuff of life. He asks us to let him teach us. And he'll do it gently. A process that takes time as we walk with him, talk, read the Word, & as we experience his gentle encouragement, we will get that deep inner peace. #wordsofJesus #promises #rest #restforyoursoul
Matthew 11:28-30 NLT Then Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Got some stuff you are carrying? Feeling weighed down,  like you're running in mud? Or is there someone you know who is feeling like that? Jesus says come to me. So take him at his word. Talk with him, be honest about your burdens, and ask him for rest. #wordsofJesus #promises #rest
Isaiah 43:1-4 Msg ...Don’t be afraid. I've redeemed you. I've called your name. You're mine. When you're in over your head I'll be there with you... ...because I am God. Your personal God. #with #dearlyloved #chosen #redeemed #itspersonal #sunday
Psalm 34:18 MSG If your heart is broken, you’ll find God right there; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath. Peace, hope,  restoration can be found. Look for God's hand, the blessing He gives through others, talk to Him, read the word...and he will be found. He will help you catch your breath. #hope #love
When Darkness seems to hide His face I rest on His unchanging grace In every high and stormy gale My anchor holds within the veil On this ANZAC day morning, as I think about the horrors of war that I have not had to experience just see on the news, as I think of those who gave their lives for us, as I think of those who lost friends, brothers, sisters, parents, daughters and sons, when I think of the darkness that must have seemed to envelope the planet as the whole world it seemed was engaged in war, that through all this, faith survived.  That hope was not lost. My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame But wholly trust in Jesus name No matter what we face: Christ alone; Cornerstone.
John 16:33 NIV I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. This life is full of great opportunity, fun, fulfillment, pleasure, achievement, people,  friends, food,  family,  love. But. Business's can fail, health can be lost, jobs not work out,  people we love die, disasters strike, assignments missed, relationships don't last...Jesus is just keeping it real. In this world there will be trouble, not maybe. Will be. In Jesus is peace. Despite and through it all, in Him there is a peace that goes beyond our circumstances and our understanding. And. In the end. He has won the game. He has overcome, and one day all will be made new.  #believe #easter #hope
John 21:12 ESV Jesus said to them, Come and have breakfast. These are the next words that Peter heard from Jesus since he had denied him 3 times while Jesus was on trial. Peter must have been wrestling with questions since then... Why didn't I... If only I had... Why did I miss that opportunity... But Jesus, rather than admonish him, says, let's have breakfast :) Forgiveness is here Restoration is here Love is here We can all look back with regret on things we could have, should have...but Jesus says it's OK. I'm here. Let's eat! #easter #dontbesohardonyourself #forgiveness #wordsofJesus #love
Proverbs 15:13 MSG A cheerful heart brings a smile to your face; Mother Teresa said this; Let us make one point, that we meet each other with a smile, when it is difficult to smile. Sometimes it is difficult to smile. Pain, loss, stress, worries about today, concerns for the future...Mother Teresa knew about these things in ways most of us will never experience,  yet her counsel is to choose to greet each other with a smile even when it's hard. It says I'm with you, on your team, I care, an expression of love. And it's free. And choosing to smile can change us. This week, some of us lost a friend who epitomised this proverb. His smile reflected his cheerful heart. #proverbs #thanksMarcus
John 20:29 NLT Then Jesus told him; You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me. I like Thomas because he expressed something that sometimes we all feel...I want to see the reality. I've got questions there don't seem to be answers for...let me see Jesus hands and feet.  But Jesus said to him, and to us, you are blessed for believing without seeing.  Hold fast to the truth of Scripture.  Study it in the good times so you can cling to it when it's rough. Believe. #easter #faith
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies. And whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe me? In the midst of Martha's grief Jesus asks do you believe? In the midst of the storm, do you believe. On that first Easter Sunday morning hope was born. Jesus words became reality...yet He still asks us; Do you believe? In loss In trouble In joy In success In failure In the extraordinary In the everyday On this Easter Sunday morning I believe. #forMarcus #redletters #wordsofJesus #easter #sunday #hope
Isaiah 53:5 NLT But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. Today is that in between day. Between Jesus death and his resurrection.  I don't know what he went through on my behalf,  but I am sure it was part of taking my sin and wrong on himself. So I could be healed. So I could be made whole. Most people who get this txt have acknowledged Jesus work on the cross for them and accepted the gift of life He offers. But if you haven't,  now is good. Maybe there is someone in your life you need to be brave and actively encourage to take that step of faith. Do it today. #forMarcus #nowisgood #easter #love #lovedtotheend
John 15:13-14 ESV Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.  You are my friends... #easter #love #wordsofJesus #nogreaterlove
John 12:27-28 AMP Now My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour (of trial and agony)? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour (that I might undergo it). (Rather, I will say,) Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your (own) name! Even though what faced Jesus was daunting and scary, he knew it was God's purpose for him. It was love for us that overcame his fear. And, it was all giving glory and honour to God the Father.  May that be our testimony too, that no matter what we face we will choose to live our life loving others anf giving honour to Him. #easter #sometimeslifeisnoteasy #love #lovedtotheend #loveGodlovepeople
John 12:27-28 AMP Now My soul is troubled and distressed, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour [of trial and agony]? But it was for this very purpose that I have come to this hour [that I might undergo it]. [Rather, I will say,] Father, glorify (honor and extol) Your [own] name! Even Jesus was cut up inside when he faced the biggest trial of his life. So if it's OK for him to be troubled and distressed (even to the point of wanting what was ahead taken away) then it's OK for us to feel the same way...so no matter what you are facing or will face, it's OK to be distressed to the core of who we are.  Jesus as a man, was just like us. #moretomorrow #easter #sometimeslifeisnoteasy
John 13:1 NIV It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. I love the " humanness" of this. It's a few days before Jesus is going to give up his life for the sins of the world...knowing that he will be rejected by the Father. ..and yet his heartbeat is for those he spent the last 3 years with. His friends. May we love those God has brought into our lives and entrusted us with in this way. #easter #love #lovedtotheend
John 12:12-13 NIV The next day the great crowd...heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches... Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!  Blessed is the king of Israel! They expected a King who was going to save them. From the Romans. But the Kingdom of God, the kingdom Jesus was ushering in, was not what they expected. He didn't save them from their circumstances, his revolution was not one of force or power,  but of love. #unexpected #revolution #love
Matthew 21:5 NLT ...Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey... Palm Sunday, the Sunday before Easter and Jesus is coming into the city...not like royalty on the flashest transport he can find, but on a very ordinary borrowed donkey. Ordinary Humble Coming not in power to conquer, but in love, to give, to give it all. #love #sunday #gooddaytoworship
Proverbs 29:18 AMP part 2 Where there is no vision (no redemptive revelation of God) the people perish; but he who keeps the law of God (which includes that of man) blessed (happy,  fortunate and enviable) is he. Keep in the Word, and as you do God will continue to reveal himself, and as we live in tune with Him, we will be truly blessed, maybe not in the eyes of the world... May God reveal himself to you today :) #blessed #loveGodlovepeople #amplifiedbible #proverbswisdom
Friday! What does the next verse in Proverbs have for us? Proverbs 29:18 AMP Where there is no vision (no redemptive revelation of God) the people perish... The world without the redemptive revelation of God is in trouble. Our country is having less and less to do with God. Maybe you will have the opportunity to influence our country and even the world...but at least at a personal level, we can stay in tune with, understand more of, and share with those around us, who God is, why He wants relationship with us, and what Jesus did to make it happen. Without that vision, people will perish...
Genesis 12:2 NLT I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. Blessed. How easy it is to take for granted the blessings in our lives. What are the first 3 that come to mind? Thank God for those things right now:) To be a blessing. No matter where we live or what our circumstances are, we can be a blessing to others. At the very least I can choose to smile at people on the street...you and I, blessed to be a blessing just as Abraham was all those generations ago #blessed # grateful #thankful
When peace Like a river Attendeth my soul When sorrow like sea billows roll Whatever my lot Thou hast taught me to say It is well It is well with my soul Whatever happens,  whatever life throws at me, how can I say it's well with my soul? "Thou hast taught me..." It is only by spending time with God, in the word, in prayer, in community,  relying on his unchanging character that we learn this. #itiswellwithmysoul #keepthefaith Check out the writers story http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horatio_Spafford
Malachi 3:6 NLT “I am the lord , and I do not change..." His character is unchanging. Truth. Justice Light Grace Love. ##
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. We are changed.  Not just changed in or for a moment, but to know God, and to become more like Jesus...to do the good things he has prepared for us to do...and to get us ready for eternity... We can't stagnate, stand still, but keep on being transformed... # changed # made new #oldhasgone
"The most terrible poverty is loneliness, and the feeling of being unloved" Mother Teresa What do we associate poverty with? No money, poor housing, no medical care, slums, bush villages? MumT lives in that world, had no money or resources of her own, lived and worked with people in the same or worse situations, and still says that the worst poverty is being lonely and unloved...all of us can relieve that poverty in someone's life. Will you? #realpoverty #lovepeople
Romans 12:10 NIV ...Honor one another above yourselves. There are at least 15 "one another" instructions in the Bible...today's is to honour/honor one another. To show great respect towards others, because at the very least they are made in the image and likeness of God, and if they are important to Him they should be important to me. Honour people's achievement and work and life (even when it isn't "success" in the eyes of the world) Respect our leaders, especially in our church (& that includes paying our pastors) Is there someone you can honour today? #otherness #oneanothers #lovepeople
Friday :) Proverbs 29:17 NLT Discipline your children, and they will give you peace of mind and will make your heart glad. We don't like the idea of discipline because we want freedom...yet we often submit ourselves to the disciplines of a profession or trade or job willingly...we choose to study, to delay some things in life for other more important things. So lots of wisdom in this for all of us...but there is more...real peace of mind and gladness of heart comes when we submit ourselves to God and his purposes for us. To be more like Jesus. His profession was to love God and love people. #loveismyprofession #studythingsofGod #choosetofollowHim #peaceofmind #gladnessofheart ##
Psalms 27:3 NLT Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Sometimes our circumstances are difficult. Work, study, relationships, finances, actions of others that hurt or impact on us...but David says regardless of our external circumstances and pressures and worries, inside,  where it really counts, there is no reason to be afraid. #Godisonourside #nofear #itstheheartthatcounts #inthistogether
Psalms 27:3 NLT Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. If you are under seige from your enemies who are you with? If you're with God's people, you're not alone. Sometimes we just need to ask for help. And sometimes you can help someone else. But that takes comittment to a community, even if we are only in a place for a short time, join in :) We lived in PNG for a while and one of the things that took away the fear was knowing that the church community supported us. #keepconnected #inthistogether #nofear #hope
Psalms 27:3 NLT Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. I've never been in a war, but the picture here is like a town under seige...with the enemy blocking you in, waiting for you to make a mistake, waiting for you to give up...sometimes it feels that way, that everything seems against us, just waiting on a misstep, our surrender...but David has faith in a God who is bigger than the enemy camped at the gate, &  hope of a future beyond these walls...and is not afraid. #keepthefaith #nofear #hope
